Camp Director, Phil Bova, has a great passion and keen insight for developing young talent. For over 38 years, Phil has provided the most complete fundamental baseball camp of its kind. Working with over 7000 campers from all over Northeastern Ohio, he has prepared his students for their next level in baseball.
On September 25th, 2003, Phil was inducted into the prestigious Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame for his community service, athletic reputation and sports officiating accomplishments. Phil starred in three sports at Cleveland West High School. In baseball he earned All Ohio and All Scholastic Honors. Recently Phil retired as a major college basketball official. He officiated 30 years in the Big Ten Conference and was president of the Big Ten Officials Association. Phil had the honor of being selected to officiate 20 consecutive NCAA March Madness tournaments.
He played professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians organization and coached baseball at Cleveland State University. Currently, Phil is Coordinator of Vocational Education at Buckeye High School located in Medina Ohio. Phil and his students organized a record setting Coats for Kids campaign that benefited over 4000 underprivileged children in Northeastern Ohio. Phil is presently coaching youth basketball and baseball, developing his grandsons' and their teammates' skills. A respected clinician, Phil and his outstanding staff are often in demand to perform clinics for baseball programs throughout Northeastern Ohio.
